Public Engagement
Talking about science to non-scientists helps our confidence and fluency of communication and clarity of thought. If you can't explain your project to a ten year old, is it because you don't understand it properly yourself? We believe public engagement is an essential part of our scientific development and training and of course, benefits our audience and hopefully motivates interest in science by licensing curiosity.

School Visits and Events
We visit schools and festivals or host classes in the Centre of the Cell at the Blizard Institute, QMUL several times a year for a day of assemblies and activities.
Art
Dr John Walter, our artist in residence, started working with us when he won a Wellcome Trust Large Arts Award "CAPSID". John's work is bright, witty, intelligent and sometimes hilariously inappropriate.

In the Media
Social media, TV and radio are important tools in public engagement. The Towers lab has participated in many TV programs over the years. We continue to work with Prof Chris Van Tulleken to develop our public engagement programme and trade ideas with his Operation Ouch double BAFTA winning BBC kids TV show and associated stage show.
